ASTM Standard A242 Steel Plate
A242 series belongs to high-strength low-alloy structural steel. This standard applies to high-strength low-alloy structural steel profiles, plates and bars for welded, riveted and bolted structures.
A242 steel is mainly used for components requiring reduced weight or extended service life. The atmospheric corrosion resistance of this type of steel in the environment is significantly better than that of copper-containing or copper-free carbon structural steel.

Steel sheets made from coils refer to sheets that have been uncoiled into single sheets. The process can pay for delivery directly, or undertake a variety of operations ranging from strip coil to processing into structural steel products. These operations include uncoiling, unwinding, straightening, hot or cold forming (if applicable), cutting to length, testing, inspection, condition, heat treatment (if applicable), packaging marking, shipping and inspection certificates.
