Comparative test of corrosion performance of high frequency welded steel pipe and seamless steel pipe

Corrosion is a common problem in steel pipes, affecting the performance, durability and lifetime of steel pipes. In order to better understand the corrosion resistance of steel pipes, it is necessary to compare the corrosion performance of different steel pipes under similar conditions. To this end, this article will compare the corrosion performance of high frequency welded steel pipe and seamless steel pipe.

Welded steel pipe has low raw material cost, high production efficiency and low overall cost. High frequency welding utilizes a kind of solid state welding, so that the weld has good strength and high efficiency. In addition, it can produce pipes with different diameters and thicknesses, and can be used for a variety of applications. But the disadvantage is that the corrosion resistance of welded steel pipe is poorer than that of seamless steel pipe.

Seamless steel pipe is manufactured through cold drawing or hot rolling, and its corrosion resistance is higher than that of welded steel pipe. At the same time, due to its unique production process, it can be customized into a wide range of diameters and wall thickness. However, the production cost of seamless steel pipe is much higher than that of welded steel pipe, which is one of the reasons why it is not as widely used as welded steel pipe.

In order to better understand the corrosion resistance of steel pipes, a comparative test was conducted using welded steel pipe and seamless steel pipe. The two types of steel pipes were immersed in a salt solution, and the amounts of rust on each sample were compared after 24 hours.

The results showed that the welded steel pipe was more susceptible to corrosion, with rust appearing on the surface of the pipe after 24 hours. In contrast, the seamless steel pipe showed significantly less corrosion, indicating that its corrosion resistance was better.

This comparison shows that seamless steel pipe has a better corrosion performance than welding steel pipe. This is mainly due to the native corrosion resistance of the material and the unique manufacturing techniques used in the production of seamless steel.

To sum up, the comparison test in this article clearly shows that seamless steel pipe performs better than welded steel pipe under the same corrosion environment. This performance advantage makes it more suitable for applications that require higher levels of corrosion resistance. At the same time, this high performance must be balanced with the relatively high production cost of seamless steel pipe.
