Background
Wear resistant steel has become more popular in the recent years due to its ability to resist erosion and wear. It is widely used in the manufacturing industry and often used as components of industrial equipment, such as conveyor wheels, chain links and so on. As a new kind of metal, wear resistant steel has been widely used in modern engineering, but there are still many problems unsolved. In order to understand the wear properties of wear resistant steel, the wear resistance of wear resistant steel NM360 is investigated experimentally and the following results are obtained.
Materials and Methods
The sample material for this study is wear resistant steel NM360. Hardness tests and chemical composition analysis were conducted to ensure the material meets the requirements and quality. The wear test was conducted with a pin-on-disk tribometer. The test material is placed on the disk and a pin is used to rub the disk with a certain load. The wear rate can then be measured and calculated.
Results and Discussion
The results of the hardness test showed that the sample of wear resistant steel NM360 has a hardness of 250hb. The chemical composition test showed that it consists of 0.35% carbon, 1.00% manganese, 1.50% chromium, 0.30% silicon, 0.40% molybdenum and 0.30% vanadium.
The results of the tribological test showed that the wear rate of wear resistant steel NM360 decreased with an increase in the applied load. As the load increased, the wear rate decreased. This indicates that wear resistant steel NM360 has good wear resistance.
This study has shown that wear resistant steel NM360 has a good wear resistance and can be used in various engineering applications. Further research is needed to assess the wear resistance under various contact and load conditions.
