Research on Abrasive Wear Properties of Hot-rolled Austenitic Medium Manganese Wear-resistant Steel
Introduction
Hot-rolled austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel is a type of wear-resistant steel plate created by a hot rolling process that utilizes austenitic medium manganese designed for excellent wear resistance and good impact strength. Through its combination of good ductility, high intrinsic strength and fine-grained structure formed through its hot rolling mill, Austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel is one of the leading and preferred material for wear-resistant steel plate applications.
Objectives
The purpose of this research is to examine the abrasive wear properties of hot-rolled austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel. The research aims to determine the wear behaviour of the steel in different loading configurations, elucidate the dynamic processes involved in abrasive wear, and evaluate the effectiveness of steel as a wear-resistant material.
Methods
In the research, abrasive wear tests were performed on hot-rolled austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel using a three-body abrasive wear test rig. Abrasive wear was measured as a function of applied normal load and number of contact cycles. The abrasive wear test was conducted using fixed abrasive loads and normal loads. The abrasive loads were chosen to cover a wide range of applied conditions.
Results
The results of the abrasive wear tests indicate that hot-rolled austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel exhibits good wear resistance under test conditions. The abrasive wear tests revealed that the wear rate of the steel is a function of normal load, abrasive load, and contact cycles. Initially, the wear rate was found to increase with normal load, however, at a certain loading condition the wear rate gradually decreased. The wear rate was observed to be higher for higher abrasive loads and increased with the number of contact cycles. The wear rate was observed to be lower for the low abrasive load conditions.
Discussion and Conclusion
The abrasive wear tests conducted on hot-rolled austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel provide evidence of the steel’s good wear resistance properties. The results of the tests indicate that the wear rate is influenced by both normal load and abrasive load parameters, with the wear rate being higher under higher loading conditions. The wear rate of the steel also increases with the number of contact cycles.
From the results of this study, we can conclude that hot-rolled austenitic medium manganese wear-resistant steel is an effective wear-resistant material, showing good wear resistance under a variety of loading conditions. The results indicate that the steel can provide a high-performing wear solution for a wide range of applications requiring wear-resistant steel plate.
