Research on heat treatment process of low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel

Low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel has excellent tensile strength and maximum allowable wear. It can be widely used in the fields of construction, mining and engineering machinery. The wear resistance and mechanical properties of the steel can be improved by heat treatment, so heat treatment process is essential in good performance of the wear-resistant steel.

Heat treatment process of low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel mainly includes the following four stages:

    1) Normalizing: Normalizing is a heat treatment process for low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel that generally includes heating the steel above the austenitizing temperature, soaking, and cooling in air. Through normalizing heat treatment, the internal organization of the steel can be more even and uniform. The superior performance of wear-resistant steel can be obtained by normalizing.

    2) Quenching: Quenching is a heat treatment process of low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel which generally includes increasing the steel temperature above the phase transformation point and cooling it rapidly. The internal organization of the steel can be made harder. The wear-resisting performance of the steel can be improved by the quenching process.

    3) Tempering: Tempering is a heat treatment process of low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel which generally includes retard cooling the steel after quenching and reheating it under certain temperature to eliminate the excessive strength. The mechanical properties of the steel can be adjusted through tempering heat treatment.

    4) Spraying: Spraying is a heat treatment process for low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel which includes spraying tungsten carbide powder onto the surface by a special device at the temperature of more than 700 degrees Celsius. The wear resistance of the steel can be enhanced through the spraying of tungsten carbide powder on the surface.

These four stages constitute the entire heat treatment process of low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel, and the specific operating parameters should be selected reasonably according to the requirements of steel use and its performance.

In conclusion, heat treatment process is an important step in obtaining good performance of the low-alloy high-strength dual-phase wear-resistant steel, so special attention must be paid to process control to ensure the quality of the treated steel.
