Study on Welding Properties of Low Alloy Wear-resistant Steel NM500
Introduction
Low alloy wear-resistant steel NM500 is a type of high-strength wear-resistant steel with good cold and hot processing performance, so welding is also important for these steel materials. Welding performance will have an important influence on the strength and wear resistance of steel components, so it is of great significance to study the welding properties of low alloy wear-resistant steel NM500.
Weldability Test
The weldability of low alloy wear-resistant steel NM500 was studied through butt welding experiments. The test parameters were as follows: base metal thickness 8 mm, welding current A, speed mm/min and shielded gas gas.
Welding Quality Test
After the welding experiments were completed, the weld quality was inspected and tested. The inspections and tests included the visual inspection of the weld, the macroscopic inspection of the weld zone, the hardness measurement of the weld zone, and the microstructure observation of the weld.
Results and Discussion
From the visual inspection of the weld, it was found that the weld zone was neat and free from obvious defects. The macroscopic inspection showed that the welding slag was clean. The hardness measurement of the weld zone showed that the weld metal was not brittle, and had high hardness. The microstructure observation of the weld showed that the weld had good hardness and excellent wear resistance, which met the requirements of the application. Thus, it can be concluded that the welding performance of the low alloy wear-resistant steel NM500 is good.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the low alloy wear-resistant steel NM500 has good welding performance, which can meet the requirements of the application. It can be used to weld low alloy wear-resistant steel components without causing deterioration in mechanical properties or structural integrity. This makes it suitable for use in a wide range of industrial applications.
